My Visit to Vicenza Italy

Welcome to Vicenza, a charming city in northeastern Italy! I recently took a trip there in May of 2023. This place is a captivating blend of history, art, and stunning architecture that will steal your heart.

Do you know the famous Italian Phrase “Dolce Fa Niente”?  It means — sitting in the piazza with friends enjoying the site and sounds and a Spritz or Hanging upside down in the garden. My friends and I all gathered for a wonderful lunch in a very old resturant called the Ristorante Antico Guelfo in Vicenza eating wonderful food prepared offered by the resturants: pastas, risottos, creamy soups, and finishing touch, a glass of Tiramisu.

Now for a little background on Vicenza. Long ago, the Romans settled here, establishing a bustling hub called Vicetia. Throughout the Middle Ages, noble families ruled the city, each leaving their mark. But it was during the Renaissance that Vicenza truly blossomed, thanks to the brilliant architect, Andrea Palladio.

Palladio's genius transformed the city, and his Palladian Villas and the Basilica Palladiana are true gems. The Basilica, with its grand white façade, stands proudly in the center of the city, showcasing Vicenza's rich cultural heritage. The Teatro Olimpico, another Palladio masterpiece, is the oldest indoor theater in the world and will transport you back in time.

But Vicenza isn't just about history. It's a lively city, filled with markets, piazzas, and cozy cafés. Wander through the charming streets, discover boutique shops, indulge in delicious gelato, and savor mouthwatering Venetian cuisine.

Whether you're exploring the beautiful Giardini Salvi park, crossing the iconic Ponte degli Angeli, or simply enjoying a cup of espresso, Vicenza will leave an unforgettable impression.

I hope you have the opportunithy as I did in May to visit this lovely Italian city you and immerse yourself in the captivating history and irresistible charm of Vicenza (did I mention Venice is only short 50 minute drive from Vicenza). Expericne this timeless Italian gem for yourself and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Honey has always been a sweet treat, but it has also long served as a preservative, medicine and salve. The U.S. Department of Agriculture made medical history last month when it approved the first vaccine for honey bees. Hives will be inoculated against American Foulbrood, a highly contagious bacterial disease that kills bee larvae. Our buzzy friends need all the help they can get. In 2021, a national survey of U.S. beekeepers reported that 45.5% of managed colonies died during the preceding year. Since more than one-third of the foods we eat depend on insect pollinators, a bee-less world would drastically alter everyday life...
